Nicholsons replaced an old, single-glazed bow window. We wanted to retain the elegant, slender framework with the same number of glass panels, and to have it double-glazed. Suitable UPVC options weren't available and other bespoke window companies couldn't offer what we wanted either.

Nicholsons easily accomplished the task. The craftsmanship is excellent. The new bow has the traditional look but has a stylish, modern edge. The construction and paintwork are very crisp and tidy. The installers did a great job over a couple of very hot, humid days. All round, it was a great job and we were also pleased to support such craftsmanship. Definitely, money well spent and more of an investment in the house than just a window.

I just wanted to drop you an email to say how happy we are with the amazing service we received from everyone at Nicholson. Our new front door was fitted yesterday and we are the happiest customers in the world!

Garry and Michael took very precise measurements for our new door and ensured we were happy with everything before approving the final design. When I needed help regarding our new flooring level Garry took the time to reply with a very detailed and helpful diagram which reassured us all would be well. They went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with our order.

The construction of our bespoke door is superb! Our door is flawless and a thing of beauty! The measurements were spot on meaning fitting was straightforward.

Sym fitted our door with great care and took the time to ensure it was perfect before he left. Even on his special birthday he worked a full day to get the job done. He clearly takes a lot of pride in his workmanship and his work is superior to anything we’ve seen before.

Nicholson Carpentry & Joinery has just provided bespoke double glazed timber replacement sash windows, casement windows and oversized french doors to a period property in West Street, Stratford-upon-Avon on behalf of my client for their renovation project. From the outset Michael Twort at Nicholson’s was the most professional of all the companies we approached, providing his quotes on time, providing detailed estimates when the requirements were tweaked by us and sample windows. The workmanship of all of the finished products, attention to detail, skill in fitting and customer service was exemplary. It was a delight to work with them and they also worked really well as a team with our main contractor. I would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them and actually intend to use them when we replace our own residential windows, Nina Ziel.

Here are a couple of pictures of the windows at the Barn, although the pictures at the moment probably don’t do it justice as our builder wants to keep the large panes of glass protected and doesn’t want to fit the bi-folds until all the tradesmen have finished. However we think they look fantastic, and are really pleased with them. The window fitters did say that having fitted thousands of windows over the years these have been the best hardwood windows they have ever fitted so that has to be a compliment if ever I heard one!!

We have done quite a lot of work here over the years, including a fairly expensive oak floor, and this feels like the most satisfying job we have had done in terms of finish and value.

We were looking to replace our old hardwood conservatory. We browsed the internet and found Nicholson Joinery, who were reasonably local to us.

Richard visited our house and came up with some fresh ideas, which included having an orangery rather than a conservatory. We went along with this and are delighted with the outcome.

Just wanted to say how delighted we are with the bespoke sash windows and doors you have completed for us this week. They look stunning and the quality as consistent as your last visit. It is never easy having workmen “in the house” but again, Michael made sure that disruption was kept to a minimum and treated our home with ‘great’ respect. Michael communicated with us every step of the way and left having checked and rechecked each piece of work. What’s to say, the job has turned out perfect. After two false starts with time wasting plonkers, along comes Richard Nicholson a cross between superman and surferman to the rescue, the design concept was bound to be a problem from the start with doors at over 3 metres tall not many people wanted to touch the project. Then of course there’s the glass corner to the contemporary structure, another head scratcher from the start, with sizes out of the normal and heat loss a major factor. Along comes Rich to the rescue not letting any of the design problems even cause a hair to fall out of place, everything was just in a day’s work for him and the lads. The result is a perfect over sized glazed end to our extension and a fully glazed corner section, the original design concept was to make sure the project had the wow factor, it really does, it has that jaw dropping affect to everyone that comes to the house, not just for the first time they see it but over again ( how did you manage to get the doors so big at last ) is the most common statement and of course another phrase that cannot be placed in print here (second word is hell). You managed to deliver, without getting into a sweat the most perfect timber, fully glazed, very large end to our extension. We are over the moon with the end result, thank you for your help with our project.

What impressed me most about Nicholson Carpentry and Joinery was the attention to detail and the very positive approach to customer care of everyone. The advice and help I had in bringing what I wanted to achieve to life was excellent and the end result transformed the facade of our house from drab and dated to quite striking. When our cottage doors (front, back and french windows) needed renewing Richard advised us on wooden double-glazed replacements with up-to-date super secure locks and fittings. He made sure the new doors matched the existing windows and designed an elegant replacement for our “clumsy” front door.
